Anup Jalota: The Bhajan Samrat of India

Anup Jalota, widely known as the Bhajan Samrat, is a legendary Indian singer famous for his soulful renditions of devotional music. Born on July 29, 1953, in Nainital, Uttarakhand, Jalota was exposed to music from an early age, thanks to his father, classical singer Purshottam Das Jalota. Over the years, Anup Jalota mastered the art of blending classical and devotional music, earning a special place in Indian music history.

His most popular bhajans, such as Aisi Lagi Lagan and Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhajman, have captivated millions of listeners worldwide. Beyond bhajans, Jalota’s contribution to ghazals has also been significant, with songs like Tumhare Sheher Ka Mausam showcasing his versatility.

His melodious voice and spiritual depth have made his music timeless.In recognition of his contributions, Jalota received the Padma Shri in 2012. Even today, his bhajans continue to inspire devotion and peace, making him one of the most beloved figures in Indian devotional music.
